IPv4 to IPv6

Posted ago by admin

The following is the official statement from Google regarding IPv6 change over from IPv4.

On June 8th, 2011 — World IPv6 Day (http://worldipv6day.org/) — major web companies, including Google, Facebook, Yahoo!, and Microsoft, will enable IPv6 on many of their websites for 24 hours to test how IPv6 performs in the real world.  That day, we’ll be using IPv6 (http://worldipv6day.org/faq/index.html) for Google Apps, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs and Google Sites.

More than 99.9% of people shouldn’t have any problems during this industry-wide test, but your experience on June 8th will depend on your computer and network configuration.

- If you only have IPv4, you’ll simply use IPv4 as usual and not see any test-related problems.

- If your configuration is ready for IPv6, you’ll automatically use IPv6 and not see any test-related problems.

- In rare cases if you have IPv6 enabled but not configured properly, you may have connectivity issues with Google Apps and other test sites on June 8th.

If you’d like to start checking your organization’s IPv6 preparedness before June 8th, you can instruct your users to visit ipv6test.google.com from the devices where they access Google Apps, like primary work machines, tablet devices and home computers.  If you discover IPv6 connectivity problems, you can find troubleshooting tips and more information here: http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&topic=8995&answer=1299266

If you are having a major issue related to this from now until the end of June 8th, 2011 and need to contact us about IPv6, please submit your inquiry here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGx2UnV1RTdEY25HSlJ4VGQ2QW9jM2c6MQ.  We will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you,

The Google Apps Team

Rising Credit Affect Lease Repayments

Posted ago by admin

We have received quite a few customers asking how rising credit interest rates affects their lease agreements. One of the great advantages of a lease agreement is that the repayments are typically fixed. That is the monthly or weekly agreed payment amount is fixed for the full term of the lease. If at the end of the lease term you wish to re-sign another lease, then you may notice a slight increase in payments but most of our customers who re-sign after their initial lease is up end up paying almost the same as the previous lease. As always we aim to offer the most competitive finance that we can. You can also ask about other services like data recovery. Contact our sales team today on (02) 9037-5556 and let us know how we can help you.

Sony Network Back Online

Sony release below about getting the Sony network back online after the previous hack -

As you may have heard, PlayStation®Network was suspended worldwide on 20 April 2011 following a criminal cyber attack on our servers.

We’re pleased to say that we have now started restoring some PlayStation Network services. Over the coming days, more services will be back up and running and you should keep an eye on eu.playstation.com/psnlatest and PlayStation.Blog at blog.eu.playstation.com for the very latest developments.

Before you start using PlayStation Network again…

In restoring PSN, we have introduced a safety measure which means you will need to update your PlayStation Network account password before you can start using PSN again.

If you’ve got a PlayStation®3, you can do this by updating to system software version 3.61 and then signing in to PlayStation Network from the XMB™ (XrossMediaBar) Menu. Find out more at eu.playstation.com/ps3psn.

Otherwise, you can change your password by visiting https://store.playstation.com/login.gvm on your PC. It shouldn’t take more than a few minutes and if you’d like more help you can follow the step by step guide at eu.playstation.com/psppsn.

Free games on us…

To thank you for your patience whilst PSN has been unavailable, we’ll be rolling out a Welcome Back programme for all PSN users shortly; this will include free games to download and a month’s free subscription to PlayStation®Plus (or a free month for existing members).

Once available, we’ll publish a full list of Welcome Back offers in your country at eu.playstation.com/welcomeback.

Again, we would like to thank you for your patience and support whilst our teams worldwide work to get PSN back up and running.

Remember, for the very latest updates, you should visit eu.playstation.com/psnlatest, PlayStation.Blog at blog.eu.playstation.com and follow us on twitter.com/PlayStationEU.

We look forward to seeing you online soon,

iPad 2 Repairs Sydney

Posted ago by admin

We are excited to see the new iPad 2 with some pretty nice upgrades over the original. We managed to get our hands on one through import and needed a bit of help getting to work as looks like it was roughed up a bit in transit and of course no warranty through the buyer. We used Fix My iPad for our iPad 2 repairs and they were great. They actually had the parts in stock and were reasonably priced compared to the other quotes we received and also the length of time other places told us it would take. Turned out was jus a loose cable which may have been a manufacturing fault. They were honest what the problem was which was good too as I expected something much worse. Any how give them a yell as sure they can help you if you need an iPad repair.

iPad Repairs

So you have your shiny new iPad, playing HD pinball, Where’s Wally, and countless other games, and possibly a little work as well. You place the iPad on the table, go to move your laptop, and forget that your iPad is still attached to it, down goes the iPad and now you could be looking at a very expensive iPad repair. The good news is that your 1K or so investment (for the iPad 3G version) is likely very fixable.

iPad Cracked Screen Glass

Most iPad repairs are the same as the sister iPhone repairs which is damage by user fault i.e. dropped and mis-handled items. This will likely result in the front glass cracking and if you are really unlucky maybe even the LCD as well. Generally the front glass, which includes the digitiser component, can be replaced relatively easy by a professional without too much fuss, most places around Sydney can offer same day iPad repairs for this type of damage. The iPad LCD is also another commonly replaced component that can be replaced in about an hour or so.

iPad Water Damage

Like all electronic devices the iPad does not play well with water. Most iPads that have had water damage just need to have their internal connectors checked and cleaned where required, and usually need the LCD replaced. It is a strange coincidence but speaking to one Sydney iPad repairer, the LCD is a commonly needed replacement when your iPad has sustained water damage.

iPad Back Case Buckled

The back iPad casing is quite strong however this can be buckled through miss handling which may also result in a broken glass and LCD as mentioned above. Generally a repairer will offer two options when needing the back casing un-buckled, they can replace the entire back casing, an expensive exercise, or they can attempt to bend the casing back. In the second instance you will usually still see a slight indent or marking where the bend was, but this is usually a much cheaper option. One iPad repairer mentioned that if they are replacing the front glass and the back casing isn’t too buckled, they don’t charge anything additional to bend it back.

iPad Repair Prices

Generally most iPad repairers we spoke to offered same day repairs for common front glass and LCD repairs and water damage can take a bit longer depending largely on type of water damage i.e. salt water, fresh water, beer etc.

iPad Front Glass Repairs or LCD – $220-$295 with same day service

iPad Front Glass & LCD – $300-$420 with same day service

Water Damage – No parts required around $150, if parts required depends on extent of damage
